Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"The food and quality is super nice. The only little confusion was with the staff - we had 3 different waiters serving us, felt strange. Still super recommend"
"Pleasant places with limited number of tables by the Douro. Very polite and attentive staff and excellent food. We took 4 main course dishes for 2 people and 2 desserts. Option to choose a 5 course menu with or without wine pairing is also available. Highly recommended if you are in Porto!"
"We booked a table with a river view and this was a magical place to sit . There are a good selection of wines by the glass and we enjoyed two ventozelo white wines from the Douro valley a rabigato and a field blend mcs both were delicious and perfect for the fish dishes we chose . Service was relaxed attentive and conversational and the team spoke perfect English. There is a tasting menu or as we did you can choose three or four dishes to share from the list of mains . Grilled octopus sweet potato mash was tender perfectly spiced and melt in the mouth . Scallops perfectly cooked with the most delicious lemon rice a dish that will live long in the memory. Turbot was firm fleshed sweet and succulent and perfect with its sea weed accompaniment. Deserts are fun nutty classic combination and not to be missed . Highly recommend this place."
"Missing from the photos is the Guinea Fowl. My wife loved it so much it was consumed before a photo could be taken. The risotto was amazing as well. I strongly recommend this place. It may have been the best meal in Porto."
"The food was incredible, and the service was even more impressive! I visited solo for lunch, and while I've heard dinner might offer an even better vibe, the experience was fantastic. The Portuguese rice with fish was a standout dish—absolutely delicious—and the cod was exceptional as well. Highly recommend!"
"Excellent food, some of the best we had on our trip to Porto. The staff were amazing and friendly. The view of the riverfront was beautiful. Wish we had found it sooner."
"We had a fabulous meal at Casario on a rainy evening in early May 2025. Pictured are squid and shrimp lollipops, scallops with creamy saffron rice and caviar, and for dessert, almond tiles with apple and mascarpone cream - all of which were delicious. Our waiter, Ignacio, was so welcoming and helpful with advice about Portuguese wine. When there was a no-show for one of the choice window tables, he happily moved us there to enjoy the view. On a warmer, drier evening, I'm sure the outdoor tables with a view over the Douro are spectacular. I highly recommend Casario for a special meal in Porto!"
"A cute small restaurant close by the river bank. We sat indoors. But with all the windows and doors open, we can see the rive and boats and hear live music. The setting was lovely. We had goat cheese salad, beets with rice, chicken with gnocchi, and pork with cabbage. All were great. I had an aged port to finish the meal."
